Revolutionary War
During the Revolutionary War, Eastern Kentucky was largely an unpopulated, heavily forested frontier and hunting ground rather than a major site for organized military campaigns or fixed troop battles. Nevertheless, our museum features a few notable items relating to the war: a Continental, a replica canteen, a piece of wood from a British fort at Yorktown, and a D.A.R. membership card for the late Maude Cline Yost.
Pikeville Chapter, NSDAR
The Pikeville Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution has erected numerous memorials in the courthouse square directly in front of our museum, most notably a 1929 tablet dedicated to Revolutionary War soldiers buried in Pike County.
Louisa Chapter, NSDAR
In 2004, Louisa Chapter, DAR erected a memorial for local Revolutionary War veterans at the Lawrence County Courthouse. https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=218355
